Dear Marie
An encounter with a fellow artist...
Dear Marie,
Thank you for sharing your garden with me. Not just because it is a beautiful thing in an ordinary place - like an oil painting posted on a shelf in a grocery aisle - but because you showed me what it means to be an artist: To honor your heart and your geniuses. To do what needs to be done and to not question it. To dutifully show up daily and nurture both the creation and the creative spirit. To be generous and courageous by sharing it with the people.
And thank you for kindly taking the time to speak with me. And remind me of the thing I needed to hear most: to be okay with uncertain times. To faithfully and quietly continue on and wait for spring to come. To use our gifts of expression and appreciation like little hearths in the muddy snow.
And lastly, thank you for inspiring me and my own art. You are both an inspiration and aspiration to me. I am sorry I lost the PO Box number you gave me, but I am sure I will see you again soon - faithfully toiling in your sanctuary.
Thank you,
-NAT <3
